Plush toy safety and quality control
A soft toy is a children's product in most of the markets we ship to, which means the paperwork matters as much as the stitching. Here is what we do as standard and what we can arrange on request.
EN71-1, EN71-2, EN71-3
European toy safety: mechanical and physical properties, flammability, and migration of heavy metals from fabric, thread and fill.
ASTM F963
The US consumer safety standard for toys, covering small parts, seam strength and the pull force needed to remove eyes and noses.
CPSIA and tracking labels
Lead and phthalate limits for the US market, plus permanent tracking labels showing batch and production date.
REACH and Prop 65
Restricted substances screening for the EU and California, arranged through SGS, BV, Intertek or the lab you nominate.
Checked at every stage
- Incoming fabric checked for colour, pile direction and shading against the approved swatch
- Needle detection on every finished unit before packing
- Eye and nose pull test at 90 N on a sample from each production batch
- Seam strength test on limbs and the neck join
- Fill weight verified against the approved sample, unit by unit on small runs
- AQL 2.5 major / 4.0 minor inspection before the cartons are sealed
- Pre-shipment photographs sent for your written approval

Sixteen seconds of a finished sample
An original dragon plush from a recent run — embroidery, horn stitching and pile direction at the distance a buyer inspects them. No music, no cuts.
